I graduated from Fairfield University, Fairfield, Connecticut in 1976, majoring in English and receiving a broad based Jesuit education. After graduation I attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, where I was taught to speak and understand Russian language. I served in the United States Army as a Russian language interpreter, eventually stationed in Augsburg, Germany from 1979-1981. Upon discharge from the Army, I entered the University of Connecticut School of Law, where I was second in my class, receiving numerous academic awards, and becoming a member of the Connecticut Law Review. Upon graduation from law school in 1985, I served as clerk to the Hon. Joseph F. Dannehy of the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1985 to 1986 assisting in the writing and preparation of judicial opinions. Following that I became employed with a large (200+ lawyer) corporate firm in Hartford, CT, but after a couple of years I realized that my heart was with injured plaintiffs and I joined a well-known personal injury firm where I remained for 12 years. In 2000 I decided to go out on my own, where in addition to personal injury law I practiced criminal, family, motor vehicle, unemployment, agency, juvenile, probate, medical malpractice, and other types of law. This experience has given me a wider appreciation of many different practice areas. In 2008 I formed the law firm of Dressler Strickland with my partner Jeffrey Dressler, where we now limit our practice to the areas of personal injury, motorcycle, car and truck accidents, fall downs, uninsured motorist cases, pedestrian cases, malpractice, and other types of injuries. We have a staff of 32 lawyers, paralegals and legal assistants, many of whom are also fluent in Spanish. I try personal injury cases to the jury, the court and in arbitrations, and also handle appeals. Our office is less than a five minute walk from Hartford Superior Court, Hartford, Connecticut.
